GOAL(S) : To educate and build our resource of skilled, informed and committed community leaders who make a difference.

OBJECTIVE: Develop interpersonal and professional leadership skills

Strategies: Each month, the class reads one part of The Leadership Challenge and completes the accompanying workbook. Components of the skill development are included in each class day over the course of the year and incorporated in the Team Project. The same components are applied to work, volunteer and home activities. Accountability partners, journaling and personal reflection are additional activities.

OBJECTIVE: Create networking opportunities.

Strategies: The class is comprised of 25-30 community leaders from various organizations, both private and not for profit, providing group and individual resources. Approximately 100 community leaders and alumni participate in the monthly class over the course of the year, as part of the day team, experts in the field or site visit contacts. The class attends a minimum of one city council and school board meeting, and is provided with a list of commission and board opportunities. An alumni committee meets monthly to develop continuing leadership opportunities and to support the day team for the next year, integrating skills into class days.

OBJECTIVE: Making a difference

Strategies: Each class must develop and implement a team project. This project must provide a community service and utilize collaborative and team-working skills, leaving an identified impact on the community. At the end of the year, the class will debrief the process for learning upon completion. Community volunteer opportunities are provided on a monthly basis during class and as alumni.
